Q. What is the difference between a blonde and a shopping cart?
A: The shopping cart has a mind of its own.

She was so blonde, she stood staring at the frozen orange juice because it said "Concentrate".

Curls Rock!

CURLY HAIR CARE

The best products for curly hair are alcohol-free products. Curly hair is naturally more fragile and dry than straight hair. Products that contain alcohol dry out your hair, and you want to avoid these products if your hair is curly.

Minimize breakage by allowing your hair to air-dry as often as possible.

Some curly haired women will skip every other shampoo and just use conditioning rinses. Shampoo at least once a week to avoid greasy hair and a build up of products, but if you shampoo too often this will dry our your hair and leave it frizzy.

Use a moisturizing shampoo to help hydrate the scalp.

Tip: Comb some conditioner through your hair before shampooing.

On non-shampooing days, rinse your hair with warm water, apply conditioner and rinse well. This will give you clean hair, without stripping away the protective oils.

Apply mousse to still-damp hair and spread from roots to end. This will help control frizz.

Other ways to control frizz - use some leave-in conditioning products, or anti-frizz hair serums.

DO NOT use a brush on your curly hair. Use a widetoothed comb or your fingers to detangle your curls.

Always comb the conditioner through your hair when washing it. This will help evenly spread the conditioner from root to end. Detangle your hair before rinsing out the conditioner.

To control frizzy hair, use an anti-frizz serum to smooth the frizz, add shine and condition your hair. Most serums contain silicone which sits on top of the hair shaft and protects hair from heat.

WANT CURLY HAIR?

Do you want curly hair? You might want to look into getting a perm or body wave.

A perm does not mean a scary, crimped Poodle-Do of the 80s. Perms have come a long way, and the result is a much more natural look. A perm can add body to limp hair, give you sexy loose waves or the corkscrew curls you've always wanted but weren't born with.

haircutting dreams.. interesting...

if you have a dream about cutting your own hair or Cutting hair
To dream that you have a cut, suggests that you are being let down or being undermined. If you cut yourself in the dream, you are being your own worst enemy. A dream of cutting something signifies a broken relationship or severed connection.

Hair
Long hair in dreams represents strength and beauty.

If your hair turns white in a dream, you have outgrown old ideas and you are ready to learn new things.

If you dream of seeing a woman with blonde hair, or if you dreamed of having blonde hair (when you don't in real life), you will be a true friend to your girlfriends.

Brunette hair symbolizes loyalty.

Red hair in dreams usually symbolizes changes in the dreamer's life.

Curly hair in dreams foretells that someone will try to seduce you.

To dream of hair falling out, means you will have to take care of yourself and not depend on others.

If you dream of washing your hair, you need to take a different approach towards some real-life situation or relationship.

To dream of someone pulling your hair means they are trying to connect with you in some way. It also refers to sympathy and protection.

To dream of getting hair extensions, symbolizes false impressions. You may be taking on other people's ideas and opinions and trying to pass them off as your own. You must start being true to your own beliefs, and thinking for yourself.

Haircut
To dream that you OR someone else is cutting your hair, it symbolizes that you are experiencing a loss in strength. You may feel that someone is trying to supress you. This dream can also mean that you are reshaping your thinking to eliminate negative attitudes or habits. If you are cutting someone else's hair in your dream, you are being too pushy about forcing your opinions on other people.

could also mean:
You fear that your own efforts to improve your physical appearance will actually make it worse, so you don't trust your own efforts.
It could be soon your gonna tell a lie then you try to hide it
you tell a lie then you cut your hair in stress and worry ?
If you are in a relation you will take the decision to put on hold this relation but its like you will have some regrets after you have done it

9 Hair Mistakes You May Be Making

9 Hair Mistakes You May Be Making
Find out if you're guilty, then rinse, repeat — and repent

1. Shampooing daily

"Hair looks its best when the natural oils from the scalp are allowed to reach the ends," says Sally Hershberger, executive style director for John Frieda/Sheer Blonde. That's why most experts suggest that you shampoo every other day or even every third day. If you feel you need a freshener, simply spritz roots with water and restyle with a blow dryer.

2. Always fastening your ponytail in the same spot

Because strands tend to get caught — and broken — in bands, it's a good idea to alternate the fastening point. "Move it up a half inch one day, then down the next," says celebrity stylist Richard Marin. Using seamless elastic bands, like Goody Ouchless Elastics, will further minimize damage.

3. Combing wet hair from roots to ends

A comb is easier on fragile wet hair than a brush is, but tugging it from scalp to tips can cause breakage. First, smooth out knots with a leave-in detangler. Then, says Marin, start to comb at ends, working up in sections.

4. Brushing your hair for shine

All you need is a few strokes to style hair and spread the natural oils from roots to ends. "Anything more than that is unnecessary friction, which can lead to breakage," says Amy J. McMichael, M.D., an associate professor of dermatology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

5. Blow-drying hair that's dripping wet

Not only will this make it difficult to style your hair, it will cause a ton of heat damage. "A blow dryer should be used on damp — not wet — hair for 20 minutes, tops," says stylist Peter Coppola, creator of a QVC hair-care line. Before applying heat, wrap hair in a towel for five minutes, then let hair air-dry for another five.

6. Ignoring your scalp

To grow healthy hair, your scalp needs nourishment. "Massaging your head with your fingertips will stimulate blood flow," says Christopher Mackin, a trichologist (hair expert) at the Gil Ferrer Salon, in New York City. For extra care, use a leave-in scalp treatment.

7. Using the wrong brush

The incorrect brush can not only ruin your style, it can get snagged in your hair. Generally, the longer your locks, the larger in diameter your brush should be (basically, more hair, more brush). To create volume, use a round brush; to smooth hair, a paddle shape is best.

8. Avoiding hair spray

It's gotten a bad rap, but hair spray contains a polymer that actually locks out humidity, says Cheri McMaster, senior scientist for Pantene. And contrary to popular belief, it's not harmful. "It's the polymer, not the alcohol, that dries on your hair," she says. "The alcohol evaporates before it hits your head." Use just enough to hold your style.

9. Masking — not treating — dandruff

Trying to nix flakes with moisturizing stylers like oils and pomades is only a temporary fix: Dandruff is actually an inflammatory scalp disease unrelated to dryness, says Dr. McMichael. The cure? A shampoo with salicylic acid, zinc, selenium sulfide or tar to eliminate flakes.

Party Girl Pomp

Time it took: 5 minutes

Works on:
· Medium to long hair
· Wavy or straight
· Clean or dirty hair

Stuff to have handy:
· Sectioning comb (rat-tail comb)
· Small bobby pins
· Hairspray

How to:
Step 1
With all hair down, separate out your bang section. The best way to gauge the width of this section is to use your eyebrow arches as a guide.
Step 2
Tease underneath the bang section slightly. (Too much and you'll see evidence -- not a good look.)
Step 3
Smooth out the top layer of that section and pull it back.
Step 4
Twist the section once then secure with 2 large bobby pins.
Step 6
Adjust the bump with your fingers to be sure you're happy with the height and smoothness. Then spritz with hairspray.

Mal and I are going to see who can go the longest without shampooing our hair... 4 days and counting! Our Dirty Secret is...

The truth is we don't wash our hair. And we like it that way…

Thanks to modern technology (and some scientist who was having a bad hair day) we have the perfect product.
ROCKAHOLIC Dirty Secret is
Colorless, so it won't show up in your hair, your clothes or your pillow at night.
It works to absorb excess oils and has a yummy fragrance to make hair smell delish.
Not having to shampoo and blowdry everyday means hair stays healthier (less heat damage, more natural moisture for your scalp and hair), color lasts longer and you save time.
It's like a shower in can anywhere you need it: the gym, after work before happy hour, the morning after happy hour, camping – you get the idea.
Adds sexy, weightless, touchable full feel to fine hair without any build-up.
Helps give hair some grip when you want to tease or work hair into an 'updo'.
So yeah, pretty cool we know. And we would like to clarify that we do shower and use deodorant, so it's all good!

This is Tigi Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo. Spray at roots to absorb excess oils, make hair smell fresh, and rock out for one more night. Tigi Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo resists flaking while absorbing excess oil, extending the life of color. It adds volume and texture to oily, flat hair. Fragrance is pomelo.

TO USE:
Spray throughout hair to absorb oil and oder or just on roots for volume and texture. Wait a few minutes. Then brush or work lightly into hair.

I have always had a huge attraction to guys with mohawks. I don't know if it's because I grew up listening to punk and going to shows. I think more guys should wear them. When did they die out?

How cute are these kids? If I ever have a son he will probably have one.

understanding your hair color

Do not apply hair coloring to dirty hair!
Do not apply hair coloring to tangled hair!
Do not apply hair coloring to conditioned hair!
The first two may be obvious but the third is also important, do not apply your new color when you have used conditioner on your hair that day, shampoo is fine however.

While you may think you can tell your hair color at a glance there is more to it than most people think.
There are 10 base colors to hair and there are 10 underlying pigments to those colors.
The underlying pigments will be enhanced when you lighten your hair which can lead to some unnatural looking tones if not treated correctly.
Here is a list of colors and their pigments.

-COLOR- | -UNDERLYING PIGMENT-
10 - Platinum Blonde | Pale Yellow
9 - Very Light Blonde | Yellow
8 - Light Blonde | Yellow-Gold
7 - Medium Blonde | Gold
6 - Dark Blonde | Orange-Gold
5 - Lightest Brown | Orange
4 - Light Brown | Red-Orange
3 - Medium Brown | Red
2 - Dark Brown | Red-Brown
1 - Black | Dark Red-Brown

When you are changing hair color you must take action to neutralize or enhance the underlying pigment to get the color you desire. If you simply apply a new color, especially if you are trying to lighten your hair by more than 2 steps, you may find the new color warped because of this.

Over the counter hair color......

can cost you more in the long run than professional color. Several things from as basic as you going through puberty, going through menopause, taking prescription drugs even a daily vitamin can cause the chemicals in your hair not to mix well with color. Most of the boxes of color on a shelf show you the true pigment of the color you are about to use but that color is only true if you have white hair. Most people do not have white hair. Unfortunately being a professional and taking you by the hand into a store to help you pick out a color that would be right for you would be very difficult because they do not list the colors in the true color level that they should. There are places that you can purchase close to professional product and get close to the result a professional would give you but i would only recommend these places if you plan on doing an all over color. If you plan on doing highlights PLEASE SEEK A PROFESSIONAL!!If you decide you want to purchase the over the counter color and you do not know your base color or the level of the color you are buying you might end up spending est..$60/hr and up for corrective coloring. That rate is on the low end because it all depends on the market where you live. I am a professional stylist. I do not claim to know it all but have seen my fair share of hair catastrophes due to lack of knowledge on the over the counter hair color.

Hairstyle Myth Of 100 Brush Strokes

Sadly there is a lot of misinformation for hair clients floating around the Web. In all fairness, some of the information has been part of the growing Urban Hair Legends and Old Wives Hair Tales that never seem to die.

The truth? Unless you are trying to achieve some special hairstyle or combing out a roller set, brushing your hair 100 times a day can actually do more harm them good.

In fact one of the most common ways hair clients damage their hair, besides chemical abuse, is from the following hair brushing sins:

1. Brushing hair when wet to very wet which is when it is most fragile and prone to breakage as well as overstretching. Brushing hair when wet can also cause hair to frizz unnecessarily.

2. Allowing a thermal or metal brush to heat up too fast or to excessively high temperatures which can literally fry hair.

3. Utilizing a brush with razor sharp bristles which can cut delicate strands. The very best brushes are made of 100% boar bristle or a good quality faux boar designed to avoid ripping and/or tearing strands.

4. Using a brush with hard round tips on the ends. Ball tips positioned on the bristled can snap delicate strands, pull and rip tresses and potentially cause split ends.

5. Selecting the wrong type of brush for your hair texture (fine, medium, wavy, curly, excessively curly) type (thin, medium, thick) and current hair condition (healthy, slightly damaged, very damaged). A brush that would not damage healthy short hair may do major damage to hair that is very long and slightly damaged. No one brush works for all people and their hair.

6. Brushing 100 strokes per day. This practice is based from a long ago period in time when people only washed their hair once a month or less. In those days the goal was to brush 100 strokes to help the natural scalp oils (sebum) flow down to the ends and prevent scalps from becoming clogged or ends becoming dry.

As hair clients started washing their tresses on a more frequent basis it became less appropriate to brush strands 100 strokes per day. Most hair consumers cleanse their hair 2-3 times a week or more. As a result the danger of excessive sebum or oil build-up in the scalp has been removed.

Due to the frequent washing routines, hair is more dry. Hair that is chemically treated (colored, highlighted, permed, ect.) should never be brushed more than absolutely necessary.

How To Ace An At-Home Manicure

Want to save some cash and paint your nails yourself? Here are all the pro tips you need to nail an at-home manicure:

Step 1: Prep your nails by rubbing them clean with a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover. This gets rid of any oils so your polish will stick to your nailbed and last as long as possible.

Step 2: Apply a clear base coat and let it dry for at least a minute so it’s not tacky before applying your nail polish.

Step 3:Slick on two thin coats of a colored nail polish. Each coat should be thin so it dries quickly. Wipe one side of the brush against the top of the bottle to remove the excess lacquer, then paint your nail in three even strokes—first down the center, then down each side. Wait a minute between coats. Extend your second coat slightly over and under the tips of your nails to prevent chips.

Step 4:Finish off with a high-shine topcoat. Wait a full 30 minutes for the polish to dry.

are you scene? i am not.

So, What are scene hairstyles anyway?
Girls:

- block fringe covering the eyes/just above the eyes OR can be tied to the side
- if tied to the side, it has to be tied using cute clips and hair grips.
- added volume & spiked/lifted up in the back using lots of hairspray.
- leopard/camo/polka dot headband worn mostly when the fringe is down.
- bows&ribbons worn in hair.
- usually jet black/white blonde, sometimes with one bright colour streak.
- (black/blonde/colour) extensions are NEEDED!

Guys:

- block fringe / long or short side fringe, sometimes covering the eyes (the same as girls').
- hairspray is used to give volume to the hair/spike it up at the back.
- ALWAYS layered at the sides of the face and at the back, sometimes on the fringe (unless
it's a proper block fringe).
- usually jet black / white blonde, with streak(s) of the opposite colour at the side/fringe.
- sometimes a shoulder length tip on the side of the fringe (right by the face) and the rest of
the hair cut shorter.
- bows are sometimes worn.
- bandana (red/black/white) is worn as a headband

The difference between Emo hairstyles & Scene hairstyles

What's the difference between scene hair and emo hair you may ask? While it's true
that over the past 3 or 4 years with emo becoming as mainstream as it has with
majority of it's exposure beginning on the internet that, now most people who aren't
involved in this subculture don't see a difference between scene and emo hair and
they tend to call scene hair 'emo hair'.

Another point is that emo hair simply evolved into scene hair that you see today. As
for any genre the clothing style changes with time as do the hairstyles. I suppose one
could think of scene hairstyle as emo hair on steroids. Scene hairstyles infact took
a lot of inspiration from both emo and glam to come to what it is today. So while you
are likely to be called emo if you have a scene hairstyle there are actually differences
between the two, or have been.

Here's a comparison between Scene hairstyles and Emo hairstyles :

The truth is there always were some differences between the two, and as emo grew
the hairstyle evolved and became more extravagant. Originally female emo hair
would look somewhat like 'normal' hair to most people who are used to the amazing
colours and extensions used in scene hair today.

For females, emo hair was bland with perhaps some monotone dye. The cut was
never one designed for heavy use of hair products or maintanence.

Now female scene hair is one of the most flamboyant hairstyles there is with
extensions, extreme dye jobs, loads of hairspray and intense hair straightening
sessions.

As for emo and scene hair for guys it, it has also evolved a lot into what you see
today. Originally even in the beginning of the third wave of emo the male hairstyle was
nothing like you see on scene kids today. There was never hairspray or bangs
(fringes) that reach ones shoulder.

For guys, emo hair was pretty simple, even in the early 2000s. A slightly longer than
normal fringe with a black dye job was popular. The back of the hair remained rather
normal, while often being cut short it was rarely put up with gel, wax or hairpsray.

Audrey Kitching's hair

Audrey Kitching has long, curly hair with side bangs.
She often uses hair extensions, so you may want to keep that in consideration.
If your hair is already curly then go to the salon and ask for the appropriate bangs and layers.
Take your favorite picture to show them a clear example of the look you are going for.

Easy at home expert tips!

Dull Hair
If your hair is looking dull and flat, rinse it with a real ale or beer (not lager). The wheat protein and hops will give it shine.

Hair detox.
Aloe Vera is a natural detoxifier which makes hair squeaky clean.

Greasy Hair
The reason you should always finish washing your hair with a cool rinse is because it closes the hair follicle and so reduces the amount if oil produced that can result in greasy hair.

Hair Conditioning
Some of the most nourishing ingredients for your hair can be found in your fridge. Avocados and olive oil are filled with essential fats that are often used in hair products; eggs, and milk contain lipids and proteins that are very nourishing for your hair and scalp. Blend together, chill and apply to hair leaving on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse and shampoo for amazing shine!

Flakey Scalp
Once a week massage your scalp with olive oil for five minutes. If it’s flaky and itchy – crush an aspirin and mix it in – this adds salicylic acid to gently exfoliate.
