All the lipstick I need

Bonne Bell Lip Smackers were the ultimate beauty accessory for any girl whose mom wouldn't let her wear makeup until well into high school. Popping the cap off of a tube of lip gloss and applying it as you walked along was the height of pre-teen sophistication. And when that lipstick tasted like a sweet sip of Dr. Pepper, all the better.

I treat myself to a tube Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers. I carry two in my purse, one in my gym bag and one at my station at work. At $1.60 a tube, it will be the least expensive component of my makeup drawer and one the promises the biggest smiles.

WOA!

This is what I call "pro nail". Kid Sister had it all wrong.

Post-Gym Hair Help

I would suggest wearing your hair in a ponytail or bun. If you have bangs, use a barrette to keep them off of your forehead; this will keep any sweat out of your hair. All of this seems like an obvious choice, but every now and then I see women wearing Gisele-style waves at the gym. (This annoys me)

After the workout, if you don't have time to shower, you have a few options to refresh your hair:
If your bangs happen to be greasy, a quick sinkside shampoo and minute-long blow-dry should do the trick.
If your problem is a sweaty scalp, dry shampoo might be the answer. TIGIS Rockaholic will do the trick, but I really like Biolage Oil Control Treatment because it soaks up oil while puffing up the hair. Either way, just apply the product close to your scalp to cut down on the greasy look. If you have very light hair, you can also substitute baby powder in a pinch.
If you're battling flat hair, add a volumizer such as Aveda Volumizing Tonic ($15) to your gym bag. Spray the volumizer near the roots and brush (or finger-comb) it through your hair. This will provide a little lift without requiring a blow-dry.

She's cool

Did you know that hair colors are classified into two tones? These are cool and warm tones.
Decide weather you want to be more of a cooler or warmer tone.

Cool
Refers to blue or violet based undertones in hair, skin, or makeup. (medium ash brown, blue-black, dishwater blonde, deep coffee brown, medium golden brown, golden blonde, and white.)

Warm
Refers to yellow, red or orange based undertones in hair, skin, or makeup. (red, deep brown, strawberry blonde and gray.)

Home Mask For Weak And Dry Hair

Winter can leave our hair pretty dry. A good remedy for weak and dry hair is the hair mask with lemon juice. You will need: 2 tbsp. castor oil or almond oil, 1 tbsp. fresh lemon juice and 1 tbsp. honey. Add the honey and the castor oil to the lemon juice. Mix all the ingredients well and apply the mixture generously first to the roots and then to the entire length of the hair.
Wrap your hair with a towel. Leave the mask on for approximately one and a half hour. Use gentle shampoo and wash your beautiful hair. Do the mask twice to achieve best results - the mask will nourish and hydrate your hair deeply, while making it appear healthier and more shining.

haircutters

I am a cutter. I used to cut myself. Since I switched to 7 inch shears that has stopped. Don't ask why 1.25 inches changed the cutting. For all you immature hairdressers that still cut themselves. These band aides for for you.

Valentine's Day Nail Art

Spring 2009 color

Dark is definitely in so far this year. I would stay in the demi-permanent 4-5 levels because you know how styles quickly change and so will our hair. With a more medium level non-permanent we can change our hair a little easier without as much damage.

Of course!

The new long bob hairstyles will be one of the hottest new hair trends for the year of 2009.

Hair styles that will make you look thinner

WHAT SHAPE ARE YOU IN?
When looking for the right face-slimming haircut, the first thing to consider is the actual shape of your face. Round faces are roughly as wide as they are tall… and since you’re reading this, your face is probably rounder than you would like.

But whether your face is round, squarish, rectangular or heart-shaped, the goal typically remains the same: to make your face appear oval-shaped -- length about one and a half times its width, with your jawline being slightly narrower than your forehead.

GET A LITTLE TRICKY
The right cut can help trick the mind’s eye and make your face appear more slender. Layering is key for achieving that effect and there are also specific hairstyles to avoid. No bobs and no short hair. Think vertical stripes on slacks or a dress as opposed to horizontal stripes.

I would probably not do anything too short, not do anything too wide, and have some fringing and soft lines around the face to conceal part of the cheek area and chin, adding that hair should ideally fall somewhere between the bottom of the ear and the top of the shoulder. A side part will also help to de-emphasize your face’s circular symmetry.

Getting a cut that’s smoother and closer to the head can give the illusion of a thinner face. Another way to create the suggestion of length in the face by is adding some height to the top… but do so within reason. Don’t get too big – none of the big Texas hairstyles. That same “no” goes for avoiding the poofy, teased hair that was literally big in the eighties; and mullets are a big never, no matter where you live or what the era.

In a hair pickle?

Ready for a change? Good news! You can refresh your style – and boost your self-esteem – just by visiting the salon. If you've been walking around with the same hairstyle for years, or never dared to try highlights, this is the perfect time to start! And the best part? Anyone can get a drastic haircut, so listen up, because we talked to an expert about how to get a whole new look… and you're definitely going to want to listen.

1. SHOW YOUR STYLIST EXAMPLES
Picture's!!!! They never fail.

2. MAKE IT CLEAR WHAT YOU DON'T WANT
If you don't have a photo, it can be even harder to describe the style you want. But one thing you can do that will help your stylist understand your desired look is to be clear about what you don't want. For example, voice specifications like, "I want to be able to make a ponytail," or "I don't want any layers." If you have your limitations, you're setting yourself up for disaster. When I ask [clients] what they don't want, people can answer that question so much easier.

3. CONSIDER YOUR FACE SHAPE WHEN CHOOSING A STYLE
There are hairstyles that better suit different looks.

4. TRY ON A NEW COLOR
Even though you may think your new cut is enough of a change, consider getting highlights or a complete dye job.

Welcome to the high life

The champagne of pomades??? This is my friend Adam's Pomade. High Lifee. He used to work at No Regrets Tattoo Shop, where I got tattooed for years. he now owns his own tattoo/barber shop.

little bio:
High Life started out of a kitchen in a back alley by Adam D. mainly for his friends. Working as a tattoo artist during the day, while at night he formulated the perfect shaping and sculpting pomade for both men and women. And no it doesn't wash out! With a mixture of Beeswax, Petrolatum, Voodoo Oil, scent, and plenty of hard work, he created a strong hold, but an easy-to-comb product that washes out easier than most pomades.

Spanx for making me look good

So I was going to write about this on my personal blog but then decided, “Hey we all want to look good. Right?” Well that hot girl on Fox News was wearing Spanx. It was then I found out they make them in all sizes. I thought they were only available at Torrid. I know of another girl who wears them and she loves them. I am going to start wearing them.

What do you tell a dude that might be trying to undress you? haha

We all know healthy skin and hair starts with a healthy diet, if we are deficient in certain vitamins or minerals our hair can thin, nails can become brittle, bones can weaken, well you get my point. I workout almost everyday. I also have been eating more whole foods and foods with with less or no preservatives. I also have been drinking more water/less soda. I know it's hard with our lifestyles now days, but we can take it one day at a time and balance it out.

Remember:
try to exercise daily (even if it's a quick stroll around the mall or neighborhood)
eat fruits and vegetables every day, in order to get vital minerals and vitamins
drink at least 1 liter of water a day to keep your body hydrated
cut down on high-fat foods, especially at breakfast
you can grill the food in order to reduce the fat content
eating meat, poultry, fish or pulses will provide the protein needed to repair daily damage
eating a wide variety of foods will ensure you get all the vitamins, minerals and nutrients that you need every day
eat more whole grain foods which may help to keep your heart healthy (I love oatmeal)

This video has been around the web for a while now. I have seen it on so many different blogs. I think it's amazing. It is now the reason I wear pink lipstick.
